Paul Morrison to Host Bass Tournament

The Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship will have a new face this year. Lionel Robert, who has been the Master of Ceremonies for the community festival since its inception, has decided to retire. Local resident Paul Morrison has come forward to fill the very large shoes vacated by Lionel.

Morrison has lots of experience in public speaking and with fishing tournaments. His resume includes acting as the host in the Labelle’s Rainy Lake Fall Classic, Sioux Narrows Bassin’ for Bucks and Lake Despair’s Castin’ for Cash. And Morrison has even been the host at weddings and a fashion show! But the Canadian Bass Championship brings a different set of challenges. “This tournament is different than the others because the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship is more of a show, drawing attention and participants from all over the continent. I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

Doug Cain, Chairman of the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship was convinced that Morrison would be an excellent Master of Ceremonies. “We are deeply grateful for Lionel’s contribution over the years,” he said. “I’ve seen Paul in a few events around the district and I think he would be a great addition to the Bass Championship. We are fortunate to have him join our team.”

Morrison will get his first crack at the Bass Championship microphone during the KidPro Tournament on Sunday June 17th. This is the first time the KidPro tournament will be hosted by a Master of Ceremonies and Morrison’s presence is expected to make the young anglers feel very special during this event.
