“We got taken to school by Rainy Lake today!”
That opinion was shared by more than one angler in the second day of
the 11th Annual Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship. The total
number of fish caught was down, but more importantly, the total weight
of fish was down by close to 60 pounds.
Ron Lindner, who along with his partner Dan Lindner brought in a
day’s catch of only six lbs, less than a third of their day one
tally, saw their position slip from third place to 50th. “At
2:00PM we didn’t have any fish at all,” he said, “but
we managed to land a couple in the last hour of fishing.”
At the end of the day, the Day Two leaders are Mark Libitka from Kenora
and his partner Dave Bennett from Sioux Narrows with a two day total of
36.49lbs. Less than a pound away are Day One leaders James Lindner and
Mike Hehner (from the Minneapolis area) with 35.59lbs, while third
place is held by Dave Lindsay (Keewatin) and Lee Lindsay (Sioux
Narrows) with 35.50lbs.
The big fish of the day was caught by Steve Luhman and Glen Getschell which tipped the scales at 5.30lbs.
(Pictured above are Ryan and Mike Teigen from Fargo ND showing off
their five fish which was the largest catch of the day (19.42lbs) and
good enough to propel them into ninth spot overall.)
