Who would have thought, during the inaugural Fort Frances Canadian Bass
Championship in 1995, that the event would grow into the largest
community event in the Rainy River District, and become one of the
premiere fishing tournaments in North America?
The organizers of the tournament had that dream. The dream has become a
reality through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, and the great
support of the local business community and the citizens of the Fort
Frances area. Tournament anglers have spread the news of the beauty of
Rainy Lake and its amazing smallmouth bass fishery.
I believe that the secret of success behind the FFCBC has been constant
change. Sometimes it has been thrust upon us by powers beyond our
control, such as losing the income generated by the Reel Raffle.
Most times we have initiated the changes enabling control of the
results. This also makes us responsible and accountable to everyone
involved.
The combination of change and responsibility has enabled the FFCBC to
grow into a vibrant community festival and it is my goal as Chairman to
help this growth continue. Our focus this year is balancing the budget,
improving fish care and expanding events & activities for area
teenagers throughout Tournament Week.
On behalf of the dedicated members of the Board of Directors who work
year-round, thank you to the tournament sponsors and over 500
enthusiastic volunteers that continue to work to make the Fort Frances
Canadian Bass Championship a continuing success.
Welcome to the 2005 annual Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.
Please join us for a week of fishing and fun and enjoy Northwestern
Ontario hospitality at is finest.
